January is over already, that seemed to go by fast!  Looks like this issue of the TIMES has a BRAINFREEZE flavour.

BRAINFREEZE - CANADIAN RUNNING MAGAZINE
This appeared recently in Canadian Running magazine’s online edition.
If you’re looking for a chance to run a half-marathon in -20 C, don’t delay; the early-bird deadline for the Saskatoon Brainfreeze half-marathon is on Jan. 31.

The Brainfreeze, which takes place the first weekend of March, is a fundraiser for the University of Saskatchewan cross-country teams.

“You can’t really charge admission for cross-country meets like you do at football games,” race director Matt Mazurik told Canadian Running. Since the Brainfreeze began in 2009, the event has raised about $30,000 to support Huskie runners, who volunteer on race day — and in the weeks before — to help organize the race.

About 200 runners are expected to brave the cold for this year’s race on March 4, making it one of the most popular winter running events in the prairies.
If you’re interested in signing up, the early-bird deadline for both the half-marathon and the 10K is January 31. The 10K costs $40 and the half marathon is $50; both those prices increase by $10 on Feb. 1.
For more information, or to register for the race, visit the race websiteand download an information package or the registration form.

Note; last day to enter will be March 3, no race day entry.

“The goose is getting fat…”

There are a number of sentimental and meaningful seasonal lyrics that ring around my head this time of year.

“Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat…”  Yes it’s true, our family owns “John Denver – The Muppets – A Christmas Together” (1979).  And we’re proud of it!
