With invitations being non descript you are always best to ask your host the definition of their dress code.  Let us share some insight on how to define appropriate dress wear for different summer events.  Let us cover outdoor activities which include pool, deck and garden parties.  Fabrics that work in the summer are linen, silk, cotton, light weight wool and other natural fabrics.  If one is sporting trousers be sure that the trousers are streamlined.  This is an appropriate time to wear a short sleeve shirt.  If you are sporting shorts be sure that they are dress shorts and not cargo shorts.  Be sure to have a jacket so that one can wear if the event goes past six o’clock.  These fabrics are also light weight and colourful with pinks, mauves, light blues, yellows and also white.  If this is being hosted at a private country club then a tie and pocket square are appropriate.   Summer garden parties would be similar.  One can wear leather sandals if you have a pair of leather flip flops that are polished.  Make sure you have had your summer pedicure so that your foot is fresh and free from any blemishes.  The question has been asked “Can a casual jacket be sported with shorts?”  The answer is yes, but be sure that the jacket and shorts are fitted. 

Rodger recently attended a wedding in Edmonton.  This was an afternoon wedding which he wore one of our Paolo Lastrucci light weight brown suits with a mauve shirt and purple tie and pocket square that have a hint of tangerine.  This was paired with a brown pair of shoes with a buckle and a brown belt to match.  This was well suited for a conservative wedding.  For dinner which started at seven Rodger changed into a two button black with a white textured shirt with a red textured tie and pocket square.  He paired that with a black slip on loafer with a patent buckle and black belt to match. 

As invitations continue for the summer be sure to be respectful to the host and be sure to present yourself for the best as casual wear does not include denim cut offs, plastic flip flops and a T Shirt.  Most of all remember to enjoy your summer and remember The Dresser is where men become gentlemen
