HALF FOR HAITI
So we started out this week digging out from a blizzard. We can be thankful we are only
digging snow and not concrete burying our families and neighbours. Mark Saturday,
February 6 on your calendar for the Half for Haiti. As noted last week, BRAINSPORT and
Canarama RUNNING ROOM are joining forces to put on this fundraising event to support
PLAN CANADA and it’s relief efforts in Haiti. You can run or walk your choice of 5K, 10.5K
or 21K starting at 9AM Saturday from BRAINSPORT. The event won’t be timed, no Tshirt,
no entry fee other than your donation to PLAN CANADA. Receipts will be issued for
donations of $25 or more. The folks from Cafe Sola are coming out with coffee and cookies
for after your run. Our goal is to raise $21,000 or $1,000/km. Hope to see you out.
UKSI WINTER SKIRTS
This is a good time for a reminder of the UKSI winter skirt. You can now check them out at
their new website www.uksi.ca . I see a lot of moms wearing them as they walk their
children to and from school in the Broadway area.
SKI LOPPET
I’m sure the cross country ski club members were happy to see this snow with their Loppet
coming up this weekend.

This event is about a great day of skiing together, not racing, though some just can’t ski
without trying to be the fastest!!!
BOTH DAYS THE MAJORITY OF THE TRAILS WILL BE OPEN FOR ALL SKIERS
TRAIL ETIQUETTE
We received a comment on Saturday from someone who felt that their personal comfort
zone was encroached by a large group of runners. Just a reminder here that out of
courtesy and safety we should call out as we approach others on the trail and run no more
than two abreast while we pass. Remember, it is nice to share.
BRAINFREEZE
Just a reminder that this is the last week for reduced entry fees and guaranteed race shirt
for the BRAINFREEZE. Matt also asked me to let you all know that the mens and women’s
Huskie Track & Field Teams are currently rated number 1 in Canada! Just like
BRAINSPORT. Way to go Huskies.
CLINIC SCENE
With the roads in the condition they were on Monday, parking a vehicle and getting it out
again was a challenge. The Meewasin Trail had not been cleaned yet so for everyone’s
safety we cancelled the clinics on Monday night. Hopefully things will be a little better for
Walking Club and Running Club on Wednesday night.
Well that is it for the TIMES this week, Gotta Run
